Editing

With such a small staff in our advanced journalism class, we all play a role in the editing process. My comments on how to improve stories can be found on individual story google docs stored in our shared team drive. Editing is one of my favorite processes because it helps you to learn more about something while helping it become the best version it can be.

Leadership

As a sports captain, I take my leadership to the classroom as the sports editor.

I’ve helped to lead students in our beginning journalism class and underclassmen to find more efficient ways to write about what they want, while keeping it school related.

For our Winter issue, I helped freshman Camden Adair, write a story about the history of hockey at Minnehaha, providing my knowledge as well as my own experiences to showcase the long history of the sport at our school. I guided him through the process of the story, helping him to find a more Minnehaha focused story than his original idea.

Team Building

Journalism is more than just a class to me. I’ve gotten to know many of my fellow peers in surrounding grades, many of which have become longtime friends of mine. We are always talking about what is going on in our lives outside of the newsroom, celebrating others achievements, and getting to know each other on a deeper level. All of this has helped us to work even better as a team.
